We are excited to begin building up our outdoor area and patio and to include sensory experiences! Individuals in our Day Program enjoy being outside and will be able to enjoy outdoor sensory experiences, as will those who come to our Sensory Space.

Individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities benefit greatly from Sensory Experience. Some of the benefits include physical health, brain development, fine motor skills, relaxation, balance, and more.

We are wanting to add a variety of sensory engaging equipment and experiences outside our Program Space such as:

  • Equipment that engages the vestibular system such as balancing items, and items that encourage movement.

  • Tactile equipment to engage individuals' sense of touch such as a sign that has the alphabet in braille and sign language, as well as play items that have grooves and bumps in them.

  • Vibrant colored items that offer visual stimulation which encourage individuals to engage and explore.

  • Musical equipment that engages the sense of hearing such as sound tubes, beat blocks, and xylophones.
